Impact America's Perspective on Martial Arts
Martial Arts schools are on every corner in Plano. Some are karate schools, some are taekwondo schools and some are self defense only schools but all of them are considered martial arts schools. The thing that seperates Impact America Martial Arts is our focus on Life Skills. We use martial arts techniques and training to teach Life Skills. Life Skills are things like Courtesy, Honesty, Personal Excellence and Focus. All parents want their kids to be nice (courtesy). All Parents want their kids to be honest. All parents want their kids to focus on finding their personal best. All parents want their kids to focus. Those life skills are just a few examples of what we beleive the martial arts are about.
We use the rank system of martial arts as a tool to teach and enforce the life skills. A beginning student starts at the white belt level. They will learn various techniques and exercises and will earn stripes on their belts. After a certian number of stripes have been earned, the student is invited to promote to the next belt level (yellow belt). The standard of performance increases and the required information increases. The student starts the process over. The student earns stripes and then is invited to promote again. Each new level brings new challenges requiring focus, determination, confidence and a focus on personal excellence. This process repeats all the way to Black Belt.
Over time, students develop a history of success. They over come obstacles that our VERY well trained staff places in front of them. This 'history of success' translates into confidence (a strong beleif in ones ability). As a matter of fact, the color 'black' represents 'no fear of the dark'. Black Belt litteraly represents the philosophy of ' I don't know what will happen next, but I know I can handle it'.
These concepts or 'Life Skills' are philosophies that every parent wants their child to possess. It's not about martial arts at Impact America...It's all about the Life Skills.
